The Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter is a major mixed-use development proposed to create a vibrant new destination centred around sport, leisure, and community activity. Designed to complement and expand the existing Ashton Gate Stadium development, the project brings together a diverse blend of facilities intended to strengthen the area's role as a cultural and economic hub for Bristol.
At the heart of the masterplan is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena, which will become the new home of the Bristol Flyers basketball team. The venue is designed with adaptability in mind, allowing it to be reconfigured to support a wide range of uses including sporting fixtures, conferences, exhibitions, live entertainment, and community events. This flexibility ensures the arena can operate as a year-round asset with broad appeal.
The wider development incorporates a hotel, multi-storey car park, and a range of commercial, residential, retail, and office spaces, contributing to a balanced and sustainable mixed-use environment. Together, these components aim to create a destination that supports local businesses, attracts visitors, and enhances the economic vitality of the surrounding area.
The overarching ambition of the Sporting Quarter is to harness sport and leisure as a catalyst for positive social impact. The project has been shaped around community benefit, improving local amenities, and fostering active engagement with sport, wellbeing, and shared public spaces.
