Redevelopment of Ashton Gate Stadium for Ashton Gate

The redevelopment of Ashton Gate Stadium represented a major upgrade to one of the South West's leading sports venues. The scheme comprised the construction of a new South Stand and a new West Stand (now known as the Lansdown Stand) together with the refurbishment of the existing Dolman Stand. These works increased the stadium's capacity to around 27,000 and significantly improved the overall matchday and event experience.

To ensure the venue could continue hosting football and rugby fixtures throughout the works, the redevelopment was delivered through a carefully sequenced programme. This phased approach allowed the stadium to remain operational and minimised disruption for supporters, teams, and the wider community.

A key objective for the client was to broaden the stadium's commercial offer beyond matchdays. The design of the new and refurbished areas incorporated flexible layouts and supporting infrastructure capable of hosting conferences, exhibitions, and other corporate events. This has enabled Ashton Gate to function as a year-round multipurpose venue and an important commercial asset.

The completed works delivered enhanced concourse environments with upgraded finishes, improved lighting, and refreshed internal and external wayfinding. These improvements have contributed to a more modern and welcoming environment throughout the stadium.

The cost management services described were undertaken by a member of our team during their previous employment. Responsibilities included cost planning, budget management, procurement advice, and commercial control throughout all stages of the project.
