Inhalation Centre of Excellence for Vectura

The Vectura Inhalation Centre of Excellence (ICE) is a major life-science development located at the Bristol and Bath Science Park. The project delivers a world-class facility designed to support advanced research, development, and manufacturing within the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors. The scheme brings together high-performance technical environments with modern workplace and wellbeing-focused spaces, reflecting Vectura's ambition to expand its scientific capabilities and strengthen its position within the global inhalation therapy market.

At approximately 10,000m², the facility has been planned to accommodate a diverse mix of specialist uses, including:

  • GMP-compliant cleanroom suites to support regulated laboratory and production activities
  • R&D laboratories designed for pharmaceutical formulation, device testing, and innovation programmes
  • Flexible workspace and wellbeing?oriented office environments, promoting collaboration and supporting Vectura's wider organisational culture

The development provides a significant uplift in capacity for inhalation-focused research and manufacturing, enabling Vectura to broaden its service offering and drive innovation across drug delivery, medical technologies, and laboratory services.

Sustainability and occupant wellbeing are core to the project's vision. The building has been designed with the ambition of achieving both BREEAM Excellent and WELL Building Standard certification, demonstrating a commitment to environmental performance, energy efficiency, and the creation of healthy, supportive working environments.

The cost management services associated with this project were undertaken by a member of our team during their previous employment. Responsibilities included developing detailed cost plans for highly specialised laboratory and cleanroom environments, advising on procurement and construction approaches appropriate for GMP-regulated facilities, and supporting the financial management of a complex, multidisciplinary life-science scheme.
