Origin Workspace is a prominent co-working and wellbeing hub situated in Clifton, one of Bristol's most historic and architecturally sensitive neighbourhoods. The project involved the comprehensive transformation of an existing building to create a contemporary, flexible workspace designed to support collaboration, entrepreneurship, and community activity in the heart of the city.
The redevelopment encompassed a full refurbishment and high-quality fit-out, together with a significant extension that reshaped the building to meet modern occupier expectations. A key design consideration was achieving a balance between contemporary functionality and the character of the surrounding conservation area. New external façade treatments-including modern curtain walling-were introduced to enhance transparency and improve the building's presence on the street, while still respecting the architectural context.
Internally, the scheme delivered a range of adaptable working environments, including open-plan areas, meeting rooms, breakout spaces, and wellbeing facilities. These spaces were configured to support a diverse community of users and to enable the building to operate as a multi-purpose hub throughout the working day.
One of the standout features of the project is the creation of a roof terrace, offering outdoor workspace, social space, and wide-ranging views across Bristol. This addition provides valuable amenity for users and supports the client's vision for a workspace that promotes wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
The cost management responsibilities on this project were undertaken by a member of our team during their previous employment. Activities included budget development, cost planning, procurement input, and financial management throughout the design and construction phases.
