The School of Management building is a flagship addition at the heart of the University's Claverton Down campus. Designed by Hopkins Architects, the new-build facility provides approximately 150,000 ft² of contemporary academic accommodation, expanding the University's capacity and creating a highly visible focal point for students, staff, and visitors as they arrive on campus.
The building has been planned to support a wide range of teaching, learning, and engagement activities. It accommodates nine lecture theatres-including a 250-seat conference theatre-alongside general teaching rooms, collaboration areas, and social learning spaces. The arrangement promotes interaction between departments and offers flexible settings that can respond to evolving pedagogical needs.
Delivery took place within a live campus environment, requiring careful coordination to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations and maintain safe pedestrian and service routes. Sustainability and digital design were central to the approach: the project was developed in line with the BREEAM sustainability ambitions set by the University and was delivered using BIM Level 3 to support integration, coordination, and efficient design development.
The result is a landmark, student-centred facility that strengthens the academic core of the campus, enhances the University's estate, and provides an adaptable platform for future growth.
The cost management services described were undertaken by a member of our team during their previous employment. Responsibilities included establishing and maintaining the cost plan, advising on procurement strategy, managing change within a complex live-campus setting, and ensuring that budget, programme, and quality objectives were aligned with the client's sustainability and digital-delivery aspirations.
